Slow Glows plans to record new songs during the winter of 2022 and hopes to tour and travel as much as possible in the coming year. Their songs have been featured on various radio podcasts, blogs, and playlists, including CincyMusic, Citybeat, Live Eye TV, DKFM Shoegaze Radio, Indie In Red, Psychgazer, The Reverb, Shoegazer Sanctuary Music, Somewherecold Records, The Blog that Celebrates Itself and more. Slow Glows has been described as an upcoming shoegaze staple not to be missed, with plenty of praise for their music both locally and abroad. This was followed by a summer of east coast and midwest tour dates and a handful of fall shows and festivals regionally. Their new album, But What Do I Know was released on May 17th of this year also via local label Rose Hill Records. The set was recorded and mixed live and is available on all streaming platforms as part of the Radio Artifact Label. With a new lineup and new songs, the band made a comeback in the summer of 2021 with their first sold out show at Radio Artifact. The band took the downtime during the pandemic to record a new set of songs that highlighted the ups and downs of 2020’s unprecedented anxieties and confinement. Unfortunately, in March of 2020, the pandemic halted their plans for a SXSW tour. The band has built a following from the momentum of their live set. Since then, the band has played shows and festivals locally and regionally including the Blink Festival and Cincinnati’s Fountain Square. Slow Glows released several EPs and a string of kaleidoscopic music videos before sharing their debut album Stargaze Rock n Roll ( Rose Hill Records) in late summer 2019. As of fall 2022, the lineup includes recently-added bassist and baritone guitarist Mariel Westermeyer. The band was founded in fall 2016 by drummer Rachel Thode and guitarist/vocalist Kelli Redding. Inspired by classic psychedelic rock, Slow Glows keeps things loud and dreamy with an abundance of swirling, hazy melodies. Neither Bohrman nor Rickard has commented on the Fullerton store situation at this time.Slow Glows is a Cincinnati-based shoegaze band comprised of Kelli Redding, Rachel Thode, and Mariel Westermeyer. Bohrman was also the co-founder of the Burger Records store back in 2009, and reportedly lived there along with Rickard. Some more serious evidence that the management hasn’t changed is that the Burger Records’ label’s co-founder Sean Bohrman was the person who registered the White Rabbit Records name in an Orange County business filing on September 30, 2020, according to Pitchfork. While that doesn’t mean anything conclusive about the store’s management, the store hasn’t reported a change in management either. They report that the appearance of the store has barely changed aside from the new moniker, and that the two cats that used to live there, Dee Dee and Queenie, are rumored to be the same two cats that still live there. Pitchfork speculates that White Rabbit seems to have kept the same management following its parent label’s shutdown. There was nothing stated about plans for the record store last year either, but it seems now that they’ve kept on quietly with a new name. No news of their Santa Ana Burgerama festival has come out. Their Burger Boogaloo festival was rebranded as Mosswood Meltdown following the fallout, and is currently set to take place on July 2-3, 2022 at Mosswood Park, in Oakland, CA. The label attempted to restructure itself to fix the problem, including the departure of founder Lee Rickard, but when the interim president Jessa Zapor-Gray also stepped down, saying that there was no way for the label to meet her “intended goals,” the label was completely dissolved. Other artists accused of misconduct included members of SWMRS, The Growlers, The Buttertones and Part Time, among others. In July 2020, Burger Records was accused of facilitating sexual misconduct, with allegations landing on members of over a dozen bands on the label, including Phil Salina of Love Cop, who allegedly used the Burger Records store ’s all-ages shows to allegedly facilitate statutory rape.
